We were happy with the location, but overall our experience was average. First we were surprised by the “experience fee”. We booked through a third party so we assumed our stay was paid in full. In addition, we were charged more than what we were told it would be. ($25 plus $20. And we did not utilize any of these “experiences”). In addition we were charged for chocolates and water that we did not eat or drink. The accounting department have not returned any of my calls to have these charges removed.

Great property but needs a little refinement.

I've stayed here several times. It's always been pleasant. Maybe a little updating could be done. Staff is always wonderful. The housekeeping however could use some huge improvement. They just come in and make the beds and refresh the towels. Which is fine but when there is a hairball on the floor (not my hair) for several days from when I checked in, tells me they don't vacuum the rooms. And why are the towels always wrinkled? I'm assuming they're clean. Also they don't wash or replace the coffee mugs or cups. I made some nespresso on my first day. 1. The coffee cups just sat in my room dirty 2. The nespresso bar was never replenished. I don't think it's asking too much to vacuum between guests or to replenish the coffee bar. I won't let this deter me from coming here again as I do like the property and its location. Just please improve the housekeeping.

Diminishing attention to detail

We have stayed in this hotel several times, but their attention to details seem to be diminishing. Firstly only one robe for two guests, then no coffee, next day no coffee mugs or wine glasses. Then we had a noisy neighbor, not the hotels fault. But how it was handled is. We had to call security 3 separate times. The resort fee also was a surprise. They provided the list to what it covered. Which included a discount at the restaurant, but the restaurant was closed. Also had called ahead to order the Fairmont Fit package. Giving gender and sizing. It was all wrong, and had to be replaced. I had also asked about the gym, shower and steam room, and was told it was complimentary. Went to use the showers and steam, and was told they wanted $25 USD. However they provided it for one time at no charge. All of this may sound minor, but one thing after another becomes very disruptive.

The Fairmont offered an exceptional home base throughout our 8-day visit, featuring a clean, spacious room with elegant bathroom details. The staff were incredibly welcoming, eagerly ensuring our stay was unforgettable. Yet, it was Benjamin, their premier concierge, who truly elevated our experience. His unrivaled city insights, combined with his charm and enthusiasm, made us feel exceptionally valued - “These guys are my VIPs from down under, make sure you look after them!”. Every recommendation from Benjamin, be it bars, cafes, or restaurants, was flawless. Just tell him what you’re wanting to do or see or try and “I got you, I got you!” Thanks to his guidance, we departed Chicago with a sense of having fully immersed ourselves in the city and its wonderful community. Without doubt, we’ll be back one day and it’s because of Benjamin!

Wonderful Staff, Major Amenity and Credit Issue

Stayed for four days, three nights. Staff was wonderful, helpful and prompt. Hotel was clean, and we had amazing views. The main issue was that my colleague and I were staying in CHI for work in the a documentary film sector and we booked through our the VIP Visa Signatures Luxury Hotel portal, picking the Fairmont for its Enseo system and streaming services and offering. Without forewarning, it was all broken. TV was barely functional and streaming was down. No pay per view. The helpful staff sent their engineer with no luck. On the last night we were informed it was down entirely for the whole hotel. My coworker had to buy a Netflix subscription for us both so we could complete our work by deadline, and we had to write and watch from laptops—something that is worse in practice than theory and definitely a huge bummer/something we tried so hard to avoid. At checkout, my awesome front desk attendant was able to remove a portion of our charge (50% off the charge of one night) to compensate, which was actually very appreciated, as I NEVER ask for or receive compensation for things like this, but felt relieved about after spending our own M. to resolve. However, even though I saw that confirmation, when I got home the total charge was still on my card, which was very disappointing.
