Definitely not "Centre Ville" and certainly not a 4* experience for us

Parking in the local Meriadeck centre car park meant a mazy walk to the hotel which was not easy with luggage and we didn't find the lifts on arrival so lots of narrow stairs, so suggest you drop off your bags at the hotel before parking. Admittedly, we should have done more research as Centre Ville in the hotel name is very misleading as was certainly not in the heart of the town as was located in a commercial area near a shopping centre so disappointing for us. We had requested rooms next to each other and received a message to say this would be arranged, but on arrival we were on totally different floors - we were offered a change of room the next morning, but not really worth it for one night - you would think bookings made together with the same name would be assigned rooms together/nearby or at least on the same floor? Worse showers I have ever had in a hotel stay - we had over the bath showers in both our rooms with very low water pressure so not a good shower experience and certainly not what I would expect for a 4* rated hotel. Little things matter so stained chairs in reception do not give a good impression and could be easily rectified with a little care. We turned to the hotel on Saturday night and although people were at the bar, when we asked at Reception if it was open were told very bluntly that the bar was closed with no apology which is not what we have encountered in other hotels. Overall, think this hotel's 4* rating is questionable (maybe based more on the conference facilities they offer?) as we have stayed in many Mercure hotels previously but this one did not live up to its name for us so would look at other options should we return to Bordeaux. As a footnote and certainly, not something the hotel can be responsible for, but it is not a pleasant experience having to dodge human excrement on the path from some unfortunate folk taking shelter around the shopping centre, so we obviously found an alternative route.

After a difficult flight and delays arriving at this hotel gave us some relief. The location is excellent short stroll from the Tram station and we were greeted by Edwin who gave us a warm welcome and offered us some canelés some advices and an upgrade. We loved our stay the room was quiet and comfortable. Will definitely come back. Thank you Mercure Bordeaux

Frankly, not impressed as this is not a cheap hotel. There were no amenities in the room - the hot water was oscillating between hot and burning. Only 1 water bottle :( Will look for an alternative next time - was really not expecting this from Mercure; especially having paid over 100 euros a room night.

Hotel very noisy outside at night-time, rooms very basic, breakfast - very limited selection, hot food cold when eaten, not clear who the staff are and who are the guests. Difficult to locate staff when required. Reqested an iron - impossible to iron on a table top ironing board as no table in the room big enough to place it on. Also a very warm hotel. We hosted a 2 days company meeting - the room was set up incorrectly and no staff available to help to change the set up so we did it ourselves. Lunch choices limited and again food not very warm / poor selection. For the overall cost versus experience - I would chose a different hotel sadly. Reception staff extremely helpful and available though all the time.
