Unfit Bed

Mary M Couples - TripAdvisor review

Disappointed with the bed, the base was at least a foot bigger than the double mattress and the actual headboard was meant for a super king. The bed light switches were not within reach of the bed either! Otherwise the facilities were satisfactory

Dear M,ary H thank you for posting a review following your recent visit to the Mercure Milton Keynes. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We would very much have welcomed the opportunity to discuss and resolve the concerns at the time of your visit and prior to your departure from the hotel. I have shared your feedback with all the team as a way of recognising the guest experiences we delivered and also with the Head Housekeeper to look into the points raised and action any required changes as soon as possible. Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and hope to welcome you back again very soon. Kind regards

The (Male) receptionist was horrible.

Booked privilege double room. Privilege check in is 1pm, the male receptionist who was on duty on the 16th Of March 2024 on Saturday refused us to check in at 1:20pm, he said check in is 2pm, i tried to say my check is 1pm, he started frowning and insisted checking is 2pm, he never bother to ask my reservation number. After 2 I went back to check in and you could see on his face that he was annoyed, we had no idea what was eating him up, and he allocated us a standard room, I said to him that we booked a double privilege room that occupies 4 guests, ( king size bed and sofa bed) he raised his voice on us and said we have those rooms as they are fully booked, and he doesn't see any amendment on my booking requesting an extra sofa bed or privilege room. I said there was no need for me to request a sofa bed or amend the booking because the room I booked mentioned all the privilege that comes with hence is expensive compared to a standard room. He started shooting his head annoyed, and he said okay fine get room #264 “ You see I am doing you a favour” he said if not happy I should stand on the side and he wanted to help another guest. Then a lady housekeeper manager overhead commotion, she came and we spoke to her, and she took us to room #264, and she prepared a sofa bed for my daughter ( it was 3 of us myself, my wife and my daughter). She was very professional, and lovely. The issue was escalated to Paul the manager, who saw us at the time we came (1:20 pm), he was very apologetic about the issue. We appreciated the way he handled the issue. The next morning when checking out the very same male receptionist was on duty, I greeted him when handing the access cards, but he ignored me and just took the cards and proceeded to his computer, I had to ask him if anything you needed me to do, he looked at me and noodles his head, signalling NO. That means he did not want to talk at all. We just left like that, no word from him. His attitude is disgusting to be the face of such a big brand hotel. I always use Mercure Hotels, and I always enjoy my stay. He really spoiled our weekend, well thanks to the management who went all their way to resolve the issue.

Nice hotel, lots of parking but don’t be too late for breakfast

Hotel is very nice. There’s lots of parking if you drive in to the right and follow it round. There’s an entrance that end. The breakfast is good, nice scrambled eggs but if you are out late and laying in, then eat and then shower as things start to run out after maybe 10am.

Somewhat dissapointing

I have stayed at the AbbyHill Mercure a few times now and this stay was disappointing in comparison to other trips. The bar prices are very high in comparison to other alternate restaurants/bars in the local area. Check in was fine and the room was clean however the shower was sub par. The temperature dial in the shower didn't seem to do anything, it was either so hot it was uncomfortable or cold. The pressure in the shower was very low as well. The knob to turn the shower on or off was so stiff that it took both hands and all my effort to try and turn it on or off. For reference, I am a grown male and quite a physical man so this should not have even been a problem. Breakfast on Sunday morning was over priced and the people I was staying with said that the breakfast bar had run out of food before service stopped which once again is rather disappointing, given how much money had to be spent on this service. Over all this is a disappointing stay

Good stay.
