Better than budget

This IBIS is better than the basic budget hotels, yet competitively priced compared to other brands you might consider. The location is convenient, easily accessible by road and with good facilities nearby. There is sufficient free parking on site, plus an EV charge point for those that require it. The down side of the easy access by road is the main road outside, so there is some noise audible but I never found it to be intrusive. On arrival, and in fact throughout my stay, the staff were cheerful and helpful - I do believe they enjoy working for the company and make a great team. My room was perfectly serviceable as you expect for the price point, with a fairly modern minimalist design. Everything worked as it should. There was a well-stocked hospitality tray plus pillow menu. TV in the room, large shower in the bathroom. Desk plus separate coffee table, but only one chair so it is necessary to move the chair across - that does force a stop to working in the evening. A desk lamp would be useful. Everything was clean, but I would say the carpet was in need of replacement. I found the bed comfortable enough for a good night's sleep and no noise from adjoining rooms. My room was comfortably warm on arrival, so I switched off the heater, and I was able to leave the window slightly open without the road noise being a concern. The curtains were nice and heavy so the room was dark. The bar serves evening meal, though I found the menu to be rather limited, the quality was good for the price-point. Machine-served hot beverages are available free of charge, which is a nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was fully self-service. My coffee was good quality. Cooked breakfast was really nice, done with quality ingredients and not in any way greasy. Cereal and continental options are also available. All in all, I can't really fault it. New carpets in the bedroom would be great. I hope my stay was typical as I have six more trips to Chesterfield coming up and, based on this first stay, I have booked in here again for all of the scheduled trips.

Reviews are a bit off putting but luckily they did not apply to our visit ! Staff very helpful. Our room was triple glazed so noise not a problem . Room was clean and bed very comfortable . Yes it’s worn in places . Parking is useful . And a quick walk Into town . The road crossings over 3 lanes are a bit dicey! But all in all an excellent visit

On a very load road bring ear plugs

Stayed at the ibis chesterfield centre for one night I arrived early and was allowed to check in and access my room Found it very strange that they had only put a sheet over the mattress topper on not over the actual mattress Room was rather dusty and could do with some updating but bathroom was clean My major problem tho was the noise from the extremely busy road outside I’m not sure if it was just my window but the noise was no different weather the window was open or shut and I did not get a wink of sleep as the cars were constant all night I would give this hotel another chance but I’d ask to be in a rear facing room

The hotel is in need of refurbishment and more can be done on evening meals. Breakfast is ok and staff are polite but overall a very poor hotel.the smell of marijuana is very high on 2nd and 3rd floors during the night and early hours of the morning. Going back to meals in the evening the menu has very little on it and is mostly very poor quality.

Absolutely shocking toilet didn’t work rooms were dirty. Could see the dirt engrained on walls around the bed. Lamps had about a years worth of dust on rooms smelt like someone had died in there. ended up having to leave and book somewhere else.
