Luxury Six Night Stay at the Fairmont

I stayed in one of the two Magnolia Suites for 5 nights and a Deluxe Room for 1 night due to a flight cancellation. I had a room package with the suite which included breakfast. The hotel is situated in Georgetown which is a beautiful neighbourhood and has many bars, cages, restaurants and shops to choose from, some of which are upscale. The nearest Metro Station is Foggy Bottom which is convenient for the airport and all of the major attractions and neighbourhoods of Washington. However, you can walk to many downtown attractions from the hotel if you are up for the challenge. One day alone, I walked just over 14 miles. My suite had recently been refurbished and was extremely spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable and included a Nespresso coffee machine, electric curtains, light sensors for the ensuite bathroom, a six seater dining table, sofa, chairs, sideboards and two bathrooms with luxury Le Labo toiletries. My Deluxe room was clean and comfortable but was obviously a transformation from the suite. Breakfast was buffet style and the food and drink offerings were varied and of good quality. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. There is an option to have breakfast a la carte, which is chargeable. I did not use the courtyard as the weather was inclement for the duration of my stay. The lobby and bar areas were comfortable and spacious and I had my Welcome Drinks at the bar, which were Verve Cliquot. I did not use the gym or spa, but the gym seemed to be popular with local residents as well as guests. The best thing about my stay was my interactions with the front desk staff, who made my stay really enjoyable. So a personal thank you to Kelli, Pip, Sudi and Sayed. I thoroughly recommend a stay at the Fairmont as its location is perfect for exploring Washington and is much better value for money than the downtown equivalent hotels.

I was privileged to have stayed in one of the Magnolia Suites at the hotel. The room had recently been refurbished, and was really spacious, elegant and very comfortable. I didn't use the gym facilities, but it seemed very popular with residents as well as hotel guests. I didn't get the opportunity to use the outside courtyard of the hotel, due to inclement weather throughout my stay. I also booked a room package of breakfast which was a buffet style, and the choice and quality of food and drink items was very good. The restaurant team were very friendly and efficient. The front desk team were excellent and chatted and helped name throughout my stay. A huge thank you to Kelli, Pip, Sudi and Sayed. I used my Welcome Drinks vouchers at the hotel bar and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is centrally located and is accessible for every major attraction in downtown DC and Georgetown. If you wish to travel further afield, the Nearest Metro Station is Foggy Bottom. At the weekend a single ticket from Washington Dulles costs $2 and $6 during the week. The journey time is 50 minutes as opposed to a taxi which is 45 minutes or more plus a cost of $80-90 each way. There are very good restaurants and bars in the vicinity of the hotel including a Nobu restaurant for fine dining. I thoroughly recommend a stay at the Fairmont in Georgetown for its value, location and the friendliness of its staff.

Lounge and lounge staff were wonderful. Housekeeping was a bit shoddy. There were spill stains on the tile floor near the mini bar and coffee station that were there when we arrived and there when we left. Toilet tank seal was broken and water drained every night so toilet had to be manually filled with water each morning to flush it. Sink had green toothpaste residue near the rim when we arrived and when we left — we used white toothpaste so it was not ours. We ordered a “fairmont fit” for my son for the gym and pool and they sent women’s clothes of the completely wrong size. Notwithstanding these issues however, we would stay again because of the lounge and staff. Great location also.

The Fairmont DC is always a great experience. The accommodations are luxurious and the location is very convenient. The staff is wonderful, in particular Aaron Banks. He checked us in and out. He was very gracious and welcoming.
