Great location but the decor is boring.

Located in the heart of the city. Service is great and the staff very helpful. My room had lots of humidity and a smell. After three nights they changed my room to a better room with no smell. The decor of the rooms is on the boring side but most people might find it beautiful. When we booked, the pics on the internet didn’t show that side of the hotel. Still great location.

This is my second time staying at Hotel de l'Opera. As with the first time - we arrived around 3:00pm but the rooms weren't ready and we had to wait for the rooms "for final inspection". Both the rooms smelled humidity & moldy and the hallway smelled of food - curry and fried - not very pleasant. I found a hair clip and a half broken plastic lid on the stool in the bathroom - proving that "final inspection" was not up to par. The hot water of the bathtub doesn't work while the temperature of the shower flitted between hot and cool without any adjustments being made. It was very difficult to get any rest at night because the room to which I was assigned was subjected to the bass noise of some very loud music. The previous stay, I booked with my Accor card and was assigned a lovely room with nice street view. This time my colleague booked with his membership and he had a lovely room with nice street view, I had a corner room near the elevator. No complimentary drink was offered to me and his complimentary drink was offered for 1 person. Not that we used it, it would have been nice to have been offered - but it was an oversight for Accor members. I don't think we will come back - such a shame because it is a nice location.

I always choose Hotel de l'Opera - MGallery whenever I have a business trip in Hanoi. It's near my office, just 10 mins for walking. The room and food also excellent. I like local food menu here, not a lot 5-Star hotel could made local food delicious like this place so that's why I have all my breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Maybe too much but I'm happy with my choices.
