Exceeded our expectations! Fab staff!!!

We stayed here for a quick overnight stop with our two toddlers. It was my oldest 4th birthday and we had a busy day the next day visiting family! as soon as we got there the receptionist made such a fuss of him and his little brother! They were so lovely & made him a card to open & the chef gave him and his brother a complimentary cake and ice cream! The room was spacious, quiet and clean! They really went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. Property was well kept (a slight cleanliness issue in the bathroom but nothing more than an oversight) and was quiet and clean. But the staff on duty on reception on 19/04/24 definitely should have a special mention because the little things made my little boys so happy! Would definitely recommend.

It's one thing to not have the nicest welcome to the hotel- that I can get over. Having the latch not working on your door and a man trying to get in your room is another. The do not disturb sign I'd placed on the door nowhere to be seen. But then to call after your stay to discuss this incident and not even be apologised to until I reminded the person I spoke to, that is another thing entirely. I asked to speak to a manager and only then did she say she was the desk manager. She really didn't care. Spoke to me like she was passing on a message then told me to email someone else. I kid you not. I honestly prefer conversations rather than writing bad reviews, so the fact I'm here should tell you as a solo/vulnerable traveller a lot. Don't stay here.

Room 128 13/4/24 couple One night whilst out with friends in Barnsley. Checked in at 3pm, very friendly and courteous receptionist, noted I'd requested a quiet room if possible ( having read some previous reviews) The room had loads of space, everything we needed, and a wonderful night's sleep. The hotel reception area, lounge, bar and restaurant are open plan and a hive of activity at night and in the morning, but the rooms are through double doors that keep any noise to an abosolute minimum. We heard nothing at all throughout our stay. Perfect for us and we'll use again.
