Accor-style Mismanagement

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

pitalice Families - TripAdvisor review

The only good thing about this hotel is the really nice and cozy, little craft beer bar on the opposite of the building (Beer Box). Other than that, this hotel is just a mess. Don't go here if you expect an Accorhotels Experience, this hotel does not follow at all the Accor standard. This hotel is a perfect example of Accor putting a hotel somewhere in China and leaving it alone after setup, with no follow up of checks if quality standards and policies are kept. As Platinum member I did not receive any of the benefits, no welcome drink (the hotel does not even have or know about the standard Accor drink vouchers), no welcome-gift. Staff is not well-trained and does not even know that there are member levels. Before my stay, I wanted to contact the hotel by mail in order to clarify some terms, but the email on the Accor-Page does not even work. I called the hotel to ask for their email-address, but the receptionist did not know their email! She told me to call me back to tell me, but that never happened. When I arrived at the hotel, I had to find out they messed up our booking. It was fully booked and they did not have any twin rooms available any more, although I had confirmed booking for that. As this was for my son and daughter, who are not in an age anymore to sleep in the same bed, I complained about this, and after some time they gave us a twin room that was already assigned to other guests. I hope this did not have bad impact on their stay. This hotel is quite new, but there is very bad maintenance going on. We arrived on 10th floor and the whole floor had a bad stain about it, this was even worse when we arrived in the room, it had a very bad sewage smell coming from the drains in the bath room. We complained to a housekeeper who said that this is very normal, a lot of rooms have this problem due to the sewage system not working correctly. She had a huge attitude problem, as she talked so openly about all the hotel problems, just to add that this was not her responsibility and showing she didn't care. After we found that the trash bin was not emptied and full with barbeque remains, she also said that was not her problem, the morning shift did not do their job. What a great identification with her employer, no company representation at all. After big complaint to the hotel, they moved us to a higher floor, where the sewage smell didn't reach yet. It is very clear that the hotel is aware about this problems. I feel very sorry for the guys who were then reassigned to the original, smelling room and had to deal with it. This hotel caters to travel groups to Moganshan who max. stay 2 nights and most likely do not return. Travelers are frequenting the reception and complain about different things, it is a very worrying sight when standing in line for checking in. But due to the travel groups, the hotel was booked out which led to a devastating experience at the breakfast. The team there was understaffed and did not manage to clean the tables and refill food in time. Books were all taken and people were standing in line for 15 minutes to get a table. But in order to reserve one, you had to sit on a dirty, used table and remind staff again and again to clean it. When they took some dirty plates to bring them back to kitchen, they would not return to cover the rest. And most food was empty, so customers had constantly to remind staff to refill. Also food choice was not very good, don't expect any Novotel style breakfast, Western options are missing. If you are on a business trip, this hotel might still be an OK choice, given you get a room on a higher floor (we staid in 17th floor without any smell) and you don't care about breakfast. If you want to go to Moganshan, don't stay here. It is still 40 minutes to the mountains, and at the mountains you have much nicer and unique accommodation. And last but not least, if you come her because of Accor, don't go. You won't find it here.

terrific new hotel

MichiganFloyd Business - TripAdvisor review

This is a very new western style hotel that is simply terrific. I had a corner suite that had a large living area and great views of the park (when it wasn't foggy) that lights up at night with music. The wifi was excellent, TV stations included BBC and CNN, and the breakfast was good. The hotel is an easy walk to the convention center. While they have an electric kettle to heat up water they only provide tea packets in the room, not coffee. They have a small lobby bar. This being a new hotel and China where folks now pay for everything with their phones, they actually couldn't make change when we paid cash for our drinks. The change was only 2 yuan so they gave is cookies instead of change!
