We arrived and the hotel was covered in scaffolding and looked unwelcoming. Check in was brief, no information given regarding eating, facilities etc. We stepped into our room and were instantly disappointed. A privilege room it was not. High windows, no view, carpets not very clean, dirty curtains, teaspoons behind desk from previous guests, very noisy music late into the evening, shower over the bath, wonky tap and plug, a trickle of water from the shower, and a very wiry, black hair on two of the towels. We didn’t eat in the hotel at all but had a drink in the bar. Our barman was Vineyard who was the best thing about our stay. We have stayed in many Mercure hotels and this has extremely disappointing.

Excellent location and great room

We really enjoyed staying here for a long weekend (3 nights). The hotel is in an incredibly good location for going to the caves and the castle, and there are great bars, cafés and restaurants very close by (with delicious vegan offerings). Our room was very clean and comfortable, and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely book to stay here again next time we're visiting Nottingham!

While understanding there was construction at the site,the stay was great. Close to everything. It was so comfortable actually slept a full 12 hours. Haven't done that in years. Staff was very helpful and gracious. Gave us good advice on places to eat.

A great change from the everyday corporate hotels.

Loved this quirky hotel. Made a change from the everyday corporate hotel where all the rooms, facilities etc are always identical. The bedroom was compact but excellent, with all the little extra's you come to expect in a hotel room, including biscuits with the tea/coffee facilities. Loved the individual decor, including the slopping floor and a lovely comfortable bed. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was hot, fresh and delicious, with a good selection of items both hot and cold. The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the centre of the city with everything close to hand. Will definitely be staying there again.

Great location, poor hotel

Location is brilliant without a doubt, that's where it ends. Shower door broken and unable to shut, carpets lofting, mould, no USB sockets, beds uncomfortable and thrown together. We would not stay again, would rather walk 5 minutes and stay somewhere nice!
