Good place to stay

Hotel is centrally located - walking distance to station. Room was large, clean and very comfortable bed. It was also very quiet which was lovely - though it was a Monday night. Staff were exceptionally helpful when checking in.

Except for the bar, all of the hotel staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming and unhelpful. They acted like I was bothering them with simple questions

Lacked the usual high standards

Having stayed at Novotel Sheffield on 5 previous occasions this must be the worst experience I have had. I must say that they have never actually ever got it perfect as It appears they are always something missing or wrong. On this occasion I stayed in room 510. There was no gowns or slippers in the room. The fridge was not working. No complimentary water for the first time ever. Only one set of towels when they new I had booked for two people. TV didn`t work properly as the remote was of poor working order. Frankly, the stay was awful. It appears they have never ever actually got it 100%.

Regarding your comments regarding the lack of gowns, slippers and water, these items are only provided in Executive rooms and Suites and you had booked a standard room on this occasion.
