Stayed 4 nights for the conference held in the hotel and conference center. Great location, room was very clean and well equipped. However it's quiet a walk from the lobby to my room, and to the swimming pool also. This did not help with my bad knee unfortunately or whoever have difficulty walking. I paid extra for an ocean view room, but rather disappointed with the amount of ocean I could see from my room, not worth this upgrade for sure.

The Fairmont Empress is like stepping back in time. It is one of the most beautiful hotels and the scenery out the windows is stunning. The beds are so comfortable and the room was so quiet and calm. The staff were amazing and so helpful. What a pleasure to stay at this hotel for business.

Everything was impeccable except one small detail. One of the bath towels had a really gross and large brown stain on it. I’m surprised it made it through folding without someone noticing.

When booking and asking for a dog friendly room I was not advised that I could not leave my dog alone in the room. When checking in with my dog I was not advised that I could not leave my dog alone in the room. Only when reading the Welcome Letter (thankfully I'm old enough that I DO READ things) did I discover that pets cannot be left alone in the room. Oh, never mind there's a pet sitting service. $40/hour? Fine. I called to book it and was told it was not an "in-hotel" service and was given another number to call and that person was not available to answer the phone. If they HAD would they have been able to come to the hotel right away? I had a dinner reservation at Q within an hour. The Empress has a HUGE property. Surely you could find a small indoor space attached to a fenced outdoor space for pet minding. 90 minutes before dinner we called for a bottle of wine. The operator said she would have room service call us back. What? It took more than 30 minutes for them to call back to take our order. There were only 2 red wines available from room service (Why is this so when you have such a fabulous wine list?). We ordered the less expensive one and were sent the more expensive one, which we didn't send back because all we wanted was a glass of wine in our room before dinner. Ok, now that I've said all that. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful, dinner and breakfast at the Q is always amazing and the staff are great to a one.
